Promarker®D
Physician Brochure
Overview of the Promarker®D prognostic test for Healthcare Professionals
This informational brochure is developed specifically for physicians, specialists, and clinical leaders to gain a high-level understanding of the prognostic ability of this test, how it works, and its clinical validation – especially as it compares to conventional kidney function tests such as eGFR.
The clinical requirement for the Promarker®D test is heightened by the realisation that current kidney function diagnostics for persons with type 2 diabetes are failing them. Despite clinical practice guidelines stipulating (at least) annual testing by current standards (e.g. eGFR and uACR), the rate of CKD in these patients remains stubbornly, and disappointingly, above 50%. Promarker®D is different, it does not measure the amount of kidney function loss, it identifies the renal activity underway which leads to eventual kidney function loss. Promarker®D is predictive, not reactive.
