Ms. Kruger has been a certified nurse practitioner specializing in diabetes at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, MI, for over 40 years. She is board-certified in both primary care and advanced diabetes management, combining extensive clinical practice with a strong commitment to research. 

As a co-investigator on numerous diabetes studies, including the NIH-funded EDIC and ACCORD trials, Ms. Kruger has contributed significantly to advancing diabetes care and interventions. She is a highly sought-after speaker, lecturing nationally on optimizing outcomes in diabetes management. Ms. Kruger has held leadership roles within the American Diabetes Association (ADA), serving as Past Chair of the ADA Research Foundation and as ADA President, Health Care and Education. She has published over 100 abstracts, articles, and book chapters on diabetes management and has served as Editor-in-Chief of the ADA journals Diabetes Spectrum and Clinical Diabetes. 

Her contributions to diabetes care and research have been widely recognized with numerous prestigious awards, including the Florence Nightingale Award for Excellence in Research, the ADA Rachmeil Levine Award for Distinguished Service, the ADA Award for Outstanding Service in Diabetes Research Funding, the ADA Wendell Mays Award, and the 2017 ADA Outstanding Educator in Diabetes Award. She has also received the 2014 Clara Ford Award for Nursing Excellence in Research and Education, the 2014 Wayne State University School of Nursing Alumna of the Year Award, the 2017 International Diabetes Center Donnell Etzwiler Memorial Award, the 2024 Henry Ford Medical Group Career Award for Education, and the 2024 America’s Top Nurse Practitioner in Endocrinology.  With decades of experience in clinical practice, education, and research, Ms. Kruger remains dedicated to advancing diabetes care and improving patient outcomes.
